Who's read it?
I've recently finished it, and feel a bit guilty for not enjoying it as much as I should have.
It's one of those novels you should read.
The art is awesome, the storyline is interesting.
I just didn't get into it as much as I thought I would have.
Also...first death took it's time to come about. Hah jesus.

Anyone else find this with From Hell?

Yeah I've been reading this as well. The art's great and Moore certainly seems in his element.

I actually read it a while back because my wife kept pushing it on me. She is a big fan of the crime books (From Hell, Torso, even Powers). I enjoyed it - though not as much as she liked the story.

From Hell 2001 very cool movies adaptation this comics. A dark and meticulous tale, based around the murders of Jack the Ripper in Whitechapel, London. The films look is no more than what you would expect from a one based on Jack the Ripper. Dark shadows loom over the characters as the satanic nature of The Ripper is emphasised. It's such an intriguing story and character that every time I watch a film based on this story I come away slightly disappointed. This time was no exception. While the acting was good (minus some quite unconvincing cockney accents - Heather Graham and Johnny Depp, I'm talking to you) and the direction assured, the script seemed a little reserved. There was no great insight into any of the characters, and much of it played out like a simple murder mystery. But this didn't stop me from enjoying the 120 or so minutes.

Are there any big differences between the comics and the movie?

I've read it a couple of times, and I've gotta say I enjoyed it much more the second one, it is extremely complex, imo

Same here.
The first time I read it, I wasn't too impressed. Re-read it again after I let a friend borrow, to refresh my mind for some discussion, and was very surprised to find that I was completely sucked into to it.

I saw it years ago, but I remember feeling very disappointed... Specially on changes in the character of Abberline. Basically, I wouldnt recommended before reading the novel heheh

The only adaptation that I liked more than the comic was Kick-ass... Though I think I have pretty low standards as far as comic adaptation goes, so excluding a few (FF, Ghost Rider) I am easily satisfied haha
