I'm a huge He-Fan! I have been since before I could talk. As such I really hope someday someone makes a new series of comics that could rival what Hasbro has achieved with G.I. Joe and Transformers. I know that most people probably just remember it as a very silly children's cartoon, but for me it actually held MUCH more depth. To see what I'm talking about read the Marvel/Star comics issues #12 & #13. It was titled Lifetime and follows Adam's quest to regain the Sword in a dark future ruled by Skeletor. In this Future Adam sees the consequences of him wishing he had never become He-Man. I know it's a bit of "days of future passed merged with Spiderman no more, but it's a rare glimpse of character development with this property.

I'm interested to know how many of you would give a hypothetical new series a chance if it tried to be less childish? Something that would appeal to fans of the original but keeping in mind that we are in our 30's now. IMO He-Man would still be a "super hero" type that valued life. Keep in mind He-Man might not be willing to kill his enemies, but that would only contrast him so much from warriors like Man-At-Arms and his dad who have fought in wars...While people might die in the series, it wouldn't be a splatterhouse level buckets of blood we see pile up in Green Lantern or Invincible...

Cartoon Network did an updated cartoon series not too long ago (I picked up the entire series for 15 bucks around Christmas) that was pretty good in my opinion. I think there should honestly be an expansion to the Adult Swim line that allows for more cartoons geared towards adult. I think Marvel proved recently with their Max series that people are starting to want more content. We don't need graphic romance novels but we want some more gritty content.

Back to the topic at hand, the cartoons that are coming on cartoon Network on Friday evenings are starting to have more teen situations going on and I think the drawing styles would best reflect the animation styles needed for a He-man relaunch. With ThunderCats soon making it's triumphant return, now would be a good time to bring He-man back. and maybe instead of rebooting, continue the originally story-lines. Even start the series by having Man-at-Arms make one last go before dying at the hands of the original Skeletor (Without bring him back form the dead).

I had everything He-Man when I was a kid, the original 80s version :D, I even somehow managed to get hold of the rare Prince Adam figure...and I too would love to see a new comic series of He-Man

The 2002 He-man series had a short lived comic book series as well along with a number of one shots featuring the back stories of some of the main villains. I think it's here on this site. In fact...

masters-of-the-universe-vol-1-2-t3736.html

masters-of-the-universe-dream-halloween-special-oneshot-t3956.html

masters-of-the-universe-encyclopedia-oneshot-t3953.html

masters-of-the-universe-icons-of-evil-4-oneshots-t3954.html

masters-of-the-universe-rise-of-the-snake-men-3-part-mini-t3952.html

I liked this comic series just as much as the new cartoon series. Plenty of character background and hordes of minor goons getting wasted.

He-Man was my all-time favorite cartoon and toys when I was a kid. Your right...there is a lot of back story they could go in to and it def could be geared to a more adult crowd. The heros and villans are great and the material is good as well.

Hopeing they attempt another movie too!

Yeah they could gore it up a bit and maybe more mature language and rate it M

Would love a new He-man movie, although, as cheesy as the original was, I loved it.

I love He-man and The Masters of The Universe.
Hell, he-man was my first English teacher, and one of the first cartoons I ever saw.
It was a revelation compared to what i was used to.

Today, nearly three decades later, I am still a fan, albeit a casual one.
The original series still holds up, and the 2002 cartoon was incredible.
Such a shame it was cancelled midway through season two, as the rest of season two and season three would have given us Hordak as a recurring villain and She-Ra as a new ally. I still feel robbed we never got that.

A movie has been in various stages of development for the past six years, at different studios and with different producers attached.

Right now, the movie rights are with Sony, where things are moving slowly.
Here's to hoping the new He-man series by DC will spur them into getting the movie into production - and with a better script than it looked set to have with Warner before it ended up with Sony...

I was real big into He-man and The Masters of The Universe when I was a kid, like amazingly! Sadly the show doesn't seem to hold up. Also I hated the new versions of the show.

The new comic series that's running right now seems to be pretty great though.
