Wow! This is a 360 pg. book from Slave Labor Books published in 1987 when apparently we had more trees. It reprints the entire Normalman comic series as well as the guest star appearances in comics like Cerebus, and Journey. Even the free comic handouts they used to give at comic book convention are added in the back.
Printed in B&W on normal 20 pound paper stock*. Full-color cover with a cover price under $13. Definitely worth the cost. Worth twice that. It took me a full three evenings to read it. Well, two and a half.
Normalman was a spoof satire of comics in the 80s. You'll see humorous takes on Superman, the Fantastic Four, the Legion of Super-heroes, Elfquest, Disney comics, Star Wars, the Dark Phoenix/Crises on Earths/Secret Wars storylines, and more. Buy it for the retro fun, buy it for the artwork and writing of Valentino (a maestro of the craft), buy it the awesome storyline that evolves from it into an uplifting tale.
