Surprised we don't already have a thread about this but here it is the thread to talk about the game to come SW: The Old Republic. The game that is potentially gonna be a competitor against WOW. So what do you all think of it? Are you gonna play it? What do you like about what you have seen so far?

I plan to play it. Already have a couple copies preordered for my wife and i. Based on the little i played during the beta, im not sure it will be different enough from wow to really compete with it. I am a huge star wars fan though so i will love it.

While I was initialy excited about the idea of a new Star Wars MMO I really don't like the graphics and art direction of SW:TOR. Why must every MMO have these cartoony graphics? Just because WOW is cartoony doesn't mean you can't make an MMO that has low system requirements and awesome art and still be successful.

As for competing with WOW, Rift and Guild Wars 2 look much more suitable competitors; I think SW:TOR will mostly attract just Star War fans.

The only exciting thing about this game is the addition of multiple stories like non-online RPGs (or "4th pillar" as they call it). This could make SW:TOR stand out from the competition but I think it's more likely we will be wishing they had made KOTOR 3 instead.

I was really excited back in 2008,but after 3 years without a definite release date,I'm starting to lose interest.

i am most definantly going to play it!!!! im really excited about this game was and am a big fan of the kotor 1 and 2 games. by looks of gameplay and things of that nature it looks like it really will be a good competitor for wow but so did rift/war/etc, etc. i know i am going to be playing it for how long we will just have to wait till it releases. speaking of which they finally came out with a release 12/20/11 5 days before xmas looks like someone in my family isnt getting a gift cause i am getting this game!!

i am definitely going to get this game. i tried the game back in san diego for a bit and thought it was pretty good. felt like a really solid game.

so the question is: which class to play as first?

I'm very curious about it myself, although I'm not a SW fan. A friend of mine is jumping up and down about it and a couple of guys I know are in the beta. They're LOVING it.
