Yesterday Peter Jackson posted the first of a series of video blog he has promised will keep fans up to date on the production of The Hobbit.

(k I dunno why the youtube link isn't working but I'm hoping one of the admin will fix it for me ... pretty please?)

!!! So excited!!

Answer -
That you are here. That life exists, and identity.

That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

I think it's great they're doing an adaptation of The Hobbit, but what worries me is that it is going to be a 2-parter. From what I've read the first part is The Hobbit and the second part will be what happens between The Hobbit and LoTR.

I think they should have stuck with only doing the adaptation and not creating more material to fill the gaps between the The Hobbit and LoTR.

the old animated Hobbit movie was one of my all time favorites as a kid, I wish they had stuck to the original plot as well...... Although if the first movie is the original Hobbit and the second is the stuff that happened in between the hobbit and the LOTR trilogy I won't be heart broken at all. Can't wait to see the full gollum transformation

I've never read the books, but I really dug the first LoTR flicks and watching this video got me so very excited for The Hobbit. I have faith in Mr. Jackson.

The Hobbit and the LOTR Trilogy are both really well written, if you're interested in reading them I would start with the Hobbit, you'll be able to decide if you like the writing style

if you're like me, I almost literally just sat down and read them cover to cover without stopping.

although as some people will say, it can get pretty boring when they are just walking through the forest talking

at the least you should read the Hobbit before the movie comes out, its a quick read anyways

The LOTR books were rather tough to read, I always felt the movies were easier to watch and consume. The Hobbit on the other hand was a fun book to read. I really hope these movies are good.

I am surprised why no one has posted the sneak peek pics of Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins from this movie that came out earlier this week.

Here is the link to the two pictures of them.

This movie looks like it will be good. I've read the series about 5-6 times and enjoyed it. I've also seen all three movies. I hope this one is as high quality as the other 3 were.

My question is after they do this one will they continue to do more of the LOTR books? After all they are a couple more and The Sillimarion would be epic.

Yeah, felt that way too. If I'm not wrong, Tolkien wrote The Hobbit for his kids, that's why. :D
