....Man! If you're a "hardcore" Marvel or DC super-hero comicbook reader, you'd probably be hard-pressed to name a comicbook main character that's the most memorable but has no super-powers or supernatural, uncanny abilities or superb intelligence...right? Right?!? Just say "yes" so I can get on with my review okay?

Well, trouble yourself no more...presenting....

Spoiler: show

Yup they showed it! Nope, he didn't whack the monkey

If it's The Last comicbook you'll read as a Man....you will certainly enjoY Brian K Vaughan's take on the post-apocalyptical world without men (humans and animals, after a "plague" wipes them off the planet)...except for Yorick and his trusty monkey (most of the time) Amper&and. Smartly written by BKV with a good dose of humor (even without the monkey's antics), trivial nuggets of info (from anthropology to zoology, from genetics to geo-politics), literary dialogues & discourse, and of course, intercourse! Yes, boobies and booby traps abound in the storY enough to make you read all the 60 books (divided into 10 arcs) in one sitting! I did (well, almost!).

That's how good it is!...It's also one of those rare books that is superbly collaborated and drawn by a woman artist (Pia Guerra) And yes, she did draw nudity...there is a "full monthY in the comic spread...that's why I had to cover Yorick's pee-pee with a monkey....Now, don't try to wipe this monkey off...read the book! You'll certainly remember the characters now. UndoubtedlY one of your best reads!

LastlY this book made me a big fan of BKV...and I am not disappointed! He is featured in my recent blog.

Me?
WhY oh Y???Image I wasn't implying a sex change or anything you like that...it was just a play on the phrase "The Last Man" in bold....get it??

Anyhoot, BKV's on-going Ex-Machina is great too! Not as great as Y (yet) but it does give you a sense of Vaughan's writing style and the depth of the characters he creates...and, the promise of a storyline that will lead to something not only engaging but relevant. Do check it out! ....some member of ours shared it...WAS IT YOU SER? :o WAS IT YOU???

Y: The Last Man was epic in scope and I loved it from about issue 8 onward to the end of the series. It took me til about issue 8 to connect with the characters and care about them, but I'm glad I stayed with it and read the entire thing. It was great and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for something outside of the ordinary.
