When I say books, in this instance, I'm talking about the ones without pictures. Novels, and the like.
I just finished Andrew Vacchs' Flood not too long ago, thought it was pretty great. Good crime-noir piece by one of the greatest in the field.

Anyone else reading anything good?

After alot of nagging I finally picked up George Orwell's 1984.
A story set in a dystopian 1984. Where Big Brother spies on us and the Government controls everything.

I'm on the 3rd page and I'm impressed ^_^

Just started Mike Carey's fourth Felix Castor novel, Thicker Than Water. Had it sat on my shelf for ages now (the fifth book in the series is already out) and have only just gotten round to it.

I just finished rereading the fourth book of Mike Resnick's Starship series. It's a five book series, and I'm waiting for the fifth book to come out. It's a great sci-fi series set thousands of years in the future. But, unlike sci-fi series like Star Trek, it's not a happy future. Humans live side by side with aliens on thousands of planets, and the human's and their allies have been at war with the teroni federation for over 30 years. It's been so long that the reasons for the war aren't really remembered. The series follows a man named Wilson Cole and the old starship Teddy Rosevelt.

It's a great read and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi or just good stories.

The books are:

Starship: Mutiny
Starship: Pirate
Starship: Mercenary
Starship: Rebel
Starship: Flagship (December, 2009)

"Five Families: The Rise, Decline, and Resurgence of America's Most Powerful Mafia Empires" by Selwyn Raab

Im on page 419... "John Gotti would continue to use the Cirelli Apartment (Nettie Cirelli, a widow who's husband was a Mobster...He died) for very secretive meetings"

so on and so forth. They try to bug the apartment but Cirelli never leaves the apartment. She isn't stupid enough to let people (disguised as Technicians) into her house. It's a great book, I recommend it. :galactus:

I'm reading The Fatal Equilibrium, which is a course book, but it's quite good anyway. And I just finished the last Demonata book, Hell's Heroes.

@ Lemmerman: Love Darren Shan's work. You should read the short stories on this website. Good stuff.

Currently reading Feed by M.T. Anderson. Nice hearty, tragic science fic.

I had that book along with what to expect in the first year, (or was it first 2 years?)it is a little scary when you are reading about all the things that can go wrong. It makes you wonder how the human race keeps going.
That really is a good book though.
I'm guessing from your name that it's your wife/girlfriend that is pregnant.
Well congratulations and good luck to you both.

I havent started reading them yet but am eagerly waiting to start R.A Salvatore's 'transitions' trilogy. I've read everthing I could get on Drizzt and just got the first two books of the series yesterday. I have to wait untill June to get the last one but I've preordered it.
Currently I am reading Wolverine: Lifeblood. and yes it's a novel not a comic, I'm only on page five but its good so far.

Just finished reading Under The Dome by Stephen King. It was great, a real tome on par with the Stand as far as story scope and character development. Strange little twist toward the end, but otherwise a good read.

I've recently read Peter Watts' "Blindsight". It's like hardcore SF so it does get a bit confusing sometimes because Watts himself is a bona fide scientist (marine biologist) and the jargon he uses is not a joke and can make you feel very stupid sometimes ... especially if you're an Arts student like me ^_^. But it has a really interesting storyline. If you're an SF fan you've probably already read it but it's totally recommended to any others if the idea of a science fiction novel including everything from aliens, (like you've never seen them before) to vampires, to genetical reengineering tickles your fancy. Worth a try at least, right? Just for that?

Other than that I'm in the middle of tons of other books that I've started and have yet to finish (what else is new) including the Zombie Survival Guide, The Time Traveler's Wife, Middlemarch, as well as attempting to see if I can comprehend Cormac McCarthy's The Road (or, I should say, "La Route") in French. Nowhere near an expert at the language but I know rudimentary stuff and am always looking to expand on it so ... why not. Haha.

Just an update on this for me ... I might post here more than a few times because I love reading (I kind of have to) and all ... But yeah, now I'm on Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank, and The Divine Comedy of Dante Alghieri. All pretty good so far.
