There was called "Bushido Blade" that I had on the PSONE, don't know if there's been an updated version however.

The Onimusha games were Samurai ones weren't they?

Also, Dynasty Warriors 2-5 were pretty fun.

I've always been a fan of the Way of the Samurai series.

Warlords (Nothing to do with Onimusha) but this is more like feudal asia..
Onimusha series
Only Blood will tell
Way of the samurai series

but these are all ps2 games..
In 4 years I have yet to play a samurai themed video game in ps3.

Well if you play Sony, Warriors Orochi. It's like dynasty warriors, but you're Japanese.

Samurai Warriors from Koei. (XBox360, PS3, and Wii)
Sengoku Basara from Capcom. (PS3)
Features characters during the Warring States period of Japan.
Lots of conflict in that era, and many stories about the characters.
Many of these real-life peoples' stories have been the basis of movies and video games.

Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, and Warriors Orochi were all made by Koei.
Samurai Warriors - Japanese background (Warring States Era)
Dynasty Warriors - Chinese background (Romance of the Three Kingdoms Era)
Warriors Orochi - Japanese/Chinese combined. Main villain brought together the mightiest warriors from thru-out time.

Shinobi is a ninja :)

As for PS3, there's also Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan, (Yakuza series) but it's Asia only right now. I think SEGA was considering bringing out elsewhere, though.

There's a lot out there, but I'd have to recommend 'Way Of The Samurai' of course...

It's like GTA, only you're in old Japan. I only wish they make more upgrades everytime a new one comes out.
