This TPB is pretty old (about 2001-ish) and reprints JSA 32-38. David Goyer, and Geoff Johns are the primary writers, and Leonard Kirk is the primary artist. I like Goeff johns and think his stuff is great. I can't tell how much is his since he is a co-writer but the storyline is really good. It is about how the Ultra-Humanite (Superman's first actual recurring villain) gets power over a genie and uses it to wish himself master of the world. The JSA and Icicle have to team up and face a brainwashed JLA & Crew as well as an army of Gorilla Troopers. Featured characters are Sand, Powergirl, Johnny Thunder (both modern and GA version), Captain Marvel, Crimson Avenger (modern version), Hourman, and Wildcat. As well as Icicle doing the interesting "cooperating against a greater common enemy" routine with the heroes. Icicle is no anti-hero though, and you can see why he is a villain through his insightful interaction with "the capes". Leonard Kirk does a good job mostly. His work looks old (late 90s style almost) but then again this book is actually kind of old now that we are in a new decade. He does have some inspired parts here and there and doesn't do a bad job in between. Since this work is now going on ten years old we can't say Kirk was riding the crest of the new wave but you can certainly see how the current styles might have been formed in this period.
Includes a roster page of current (for then) JSA members as well as a cover art gallery , of which Rags Morales can be seen to have some masterpieces. Mr. Morales is definitely somebody that was setting a standard for great art ten years ago.
168 pages, full-color, pulp paged with $15 cover price. I would say it is definitely worth it if you are a fan of any of the featured characters.

Great review. I remember reading this story arc and really enjoying it. The whole JSA series was good.

Thanks. It's always good to hear what you thought about a series was what they thought, too.
