There will be calls, but it still aint goona happen.
End of the day 1) we should have been better and 2) If it had been the shoe on the other foot we wouldn't care

Well, another call for goal line technology now, this time from England. However it musn't overshadow the fact that England just weren't good enough on the day, or even in the tournament overall.

Sigh England probably deserved it...Capello screwed up big...he should have played with real wingers from the start instead of putting Gerrard(he's a central midfielder and he doesnt have the pace to play on the wings) on the left and Milner(hell he spent e entire season in the centre for Aston Villa) on the right...guess England still have a long long way to go...

Should have played Crouch, we spent the entire time sending searching balls to two midgets.

Hopefully Argentina v Mexico can cheer me up.

Another match that proves how stupid is FIFA's position regarding technology. Everybody realized the first argentinian goal was an offside and still the referee couldn't discount it(FIFA's policies). I won't say Mexico would have win, but for sure it would have been a different game.

Yeah, I thought it was a disgrace to be honest. It was clear the linesman knew he made a mistake, but because of the rules he was powerless to reverse his mistake.

All I can say is that there were a fair few more converts to technology yesterday. I wouldn't mind seeing it tried out, but I'm not optimistic over it happening any time soon.

It's a good job that I like cricket too. Can console myself with the fact that that we are spanking the Aussies in the ODI series.

I'm glad the U.S. lost. i can now stop hearing about how great the World Cup from people who never gave a shit about Soccer before.

:ghost: bite me :P

as for technology, its definitely going to happen by the next world cup now. fifa is saying looking into at least goal line tech. if there are any more botched up offsides calls, the voices for instant replay will get that much louder too.

pretty telling sign on all that when fifa releases a press anouncement saying refs from england/germany, usa/slovenia, and argentia/mexico will not be used anymore.

also pretty telling when fifa asks the stadium officials to not put controversial plays up on the replay board in the stadium either.

All they've said is that they are going to look at it. Could easily just turn round and say "yeah, we looked at it & still not gonna use it".

That's common practice for every football match. Nothing to do with embarrassment over wrong decisions, it's all about not showing controversial incidents that may incite crowd trouble.

To be fair though, Portugal didn't really deserve to go through after that match. Six in defence and trying to play on the counter attack? Worst possible tactic against Spain who will happily pass it around all night & wait for the good opportunities to present themselves.

Spain for me still not the best performance, was really expecting more convincing scorelines from them. Still have a shot at the cup though but you gotta wonder: when will they be peaking?

Ghana and Uruguay what an incredible match, if you ask me Ghana deserved more than Uruguay the qualification to the next phase, bur they wore extremely unlucky. A thrilling match.
