Official Teaser Trailer

Softpedia wrote:
The publisher Activision Blizzard and the comic book company Marvel Entertainment, which is now owned by Disney, have announced that they will be working together to create a new X-Men based video game, called Destiny, which will be created by developer Silicon Knights.

Activision has not offered too much information on the new comic book based video games, saying only that it will appear on multiple platforms at some point during the fall of next year.

Mike Carey, who has written graphics novels like Hellblzer, X-Men: Legacy and The Unwritten, has been charged with creating the story of X-Men: Destiny while also making sure that the video game is as true as possible to the universe created in the comic books.

The teaser trailer for the new title suggests that players will be able to embody such classic character as Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and Magneto.

Activision also says that X-Men: Destiny “casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny. “

X-Men: Destiny might have actually been in development for the better part of two years, since Silicon Knights shipped their latest video game, Too Human, a Xbox 360 from Microsoft exclusive title which arrive in the summer of 2008.

Recently the studio has used about 4 million dollars received from the Canadian government to expand its operations by hiring more than 50 people to work on a new top tier project.

It seems that Marvel Entertainment is quite eager to bring its line up of recognizable super heroes to video games.

Earlier in the week the company announced that it is partnering up with Next Level Games and with publisher SEGA to create a new Captain America title, called Super Soldier, which is set to arrive in 2011 for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS.

Wow, that looks promising. I'm glad that someone is working on a Marvel superhero game that isn't Superhero Squad or a movie game.

then it sure as hell will be great. On a side note, the storyline for X-men - Rise of Apocalypse (the gameplay could have been improved) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were great (MUA 2 sucked imho) so if they could work in that direction... :D

The gameplay and graphics were kinda (or a lot :( ) worse than its predecessor (MUA 1 totally rocks) and that's a real turn off for me...but i really enjoyed the Civil War story arc though...its great (read it when you're free :D )

Hopefully they release more info soon. It is hard to say much from just that trailer but it does sound promising!
